This Is Not Your Grandmother’s Craft Club

From underground film studio parties to battleship raves, Human Scrapbooking has transformed people across the country into living works of art.

So How Does This Thing Work?

Human Scrapbooking is a blacklight bodypaint experience where artists use vintage rubber stamps, handcrafted blacklight bodypaint, glow stickers, and glitter to decorate guests with colorful designs.

It’s basically a cosmic craft project where people become living scrapbooks.

How The Human Scrapbooking Experience Began

Bodypaint.Me has spent years bringing blacklight bodypaint to festivals, parties, galleries, and all kinds of unconventional places. Along the way, we were always looking for ways to make bodypainting faster, more interactive, and easier for new artists to learn.

Around that time, we crossed paths with a longtime scrapbooker who had spent years running a local crafting club and was preparing to retire. Over decades of workshops, projects, cards, and scrapbooks, an incredible collection of vintage rubber stamps had accumulated. We walked away with nearly one hundred of them. We had no idea what we were going to do with them, but they were too good to leave behind.

Then came the breakthrough.

A stamp could create a highly detailed bodypainting in seconds. Artists with little or no bodypainting experience could pick it up almost immediately and start creating artwork people were genuinely excited about.

Suddenly, a team of ten artists could produce the kind of volume that would normally require years of specialized bodypainting experience. The stamps solved a problem we’d been wrestling with for a long time: how to make bodypainting more accessible without sacrificing detail, quality, or speed.

As the idea evolved, we added handcrafted blacklight bodypaint, glow stickers, and glitter. The stamps became the foundation for an entirely new art form: Human Scrapbooking.

We kept expanding the stamp collection by hitting thrift stores all over the East Coast, with frequent stops in Ithaca, Philly, Roanoke, and Charlotte, pulling stamps out of bins, boxes, and forgotten corners. One of the best finds was a 1985 hot-air balloon stamp buried in a Roanoke thrift store.

The collection grew fast, and it started to feel like it had real history behind it. Most were used to decorate photo albums and handmade cards. Now they’re helping create new memories on dance floors, at festivals and wherever Human Scrapbooking happens to appear next.

Why We Had to Invent Our Own Bodypaint

The final breakthrough was the paint.

Human Scrapbooking depends on a type of bodypaint behavior we couldn’t find anywhere else. Every blacklight bodypaint we tested dried too quickly to function as a stamping medium. Paint would skin over, clog stamp details, or stop transferring cleanly long before a session was finished. The challenge wasn’t making paint that dried slowly. We needed paint that remained workable on the loading surface while still drying quickly once applied to the body.

After extensive experimentation, we developed a custom blacklight bodypaint specifically for the Human Scrapbooking process. The formula can remain active on the loading tray for extended periods, allowing repeated detailed impressions from the same paint application, while still drying rapidly on the skin after transfer. This unusual combination made large-scale Human Scrapbooking sessions possible and helped transform the technique from an experiment into a live interactive art form.

The result captures exceptional detail, glows intensely under blacklight, and holds up through a full night of sweat, movement, and dancing.

Our blacklight stamping paint uses professional-grade special effects pigments, the same category used throughout the blacklight makeup industry. The water-based formula has been field-tested at multiple large-scale bodypaint events with no reported irritation. If you have sensitive skin, we still recommend a quick patch test.

Become a Human Scrapbooker

The Human Scrapbooking Experience is easy to learn and fun to perform. You don’t need bodypainting experience, just curiosity, a steady hand, and an interest in making people smile. Bodypaint.Me is training new artists in multiple cities for upcoming activations.

We can also add Chromadepth glasses to the mix, and the second guests put them on, the art goes three dimensional. Reds and oranges pop forward, greens and blues sink back, and the whole scrapbook turns into layers of glowing depth instead of a flat design.

No extra setup required. Just put on the glasses and watch the designs come to life. Kids lose their minds when the artwork pops off their arms, and adults get just as hooked once they see it move.

Bring The Human Scrapbooking Experience to Your Event

The Human Scrapbooking Experience can scale from intimate gatherings to large-scale events with thousands of guests. Whether you’re producing a nightclub event, holiday party, festival, private party, corporate celebration, or something entirely unconventional, we’ll bring the stamps, stickers, glitter, and glow.

It’s also family friendly. Kids love the stamps, adults get pulled in by the nostalgia. Human Scrapbooking works just as naturally at all-ages events as it does under the blacklights of a packed dance floor.
